Chaparro is expected to be called up from Triple-A Rochester, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. Chaparro is set to join the Nationals in New York ahead of their three-game series against the Mets beginning Tuesday. The 26-year-old missed the first two months of the year with an oblique strain, but he posted a .304 average with five home runs, 19 RBI and eight runs scored over 15 games with Rochester following his return to action May 28. Chaparro will now replace Nasim Nunez on the major-league roster after Nunez was sent down to Triple-A on Sunday.

Andrés Chaparro : Heading to big leagues
Chaparro is expected to be called up from Triple-A Rochester, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. Chaparro is set to join the Nationals in New York ahead of their three-game series against the Mets beginning Tuesday. The 26-year-old missed the first two months of the year with an oblique strain, but he posted a .304 average with five home runs, 19 RBI and eight runs scored over 15 games with Rochester following his return to action May 28. Chaparro will now replace Nasim Nunez on the major-league roster after Nunez was sent down to Triple-A on Sunday.
Nasim Nunez : Sent to Triple-A
Nunez was optioned to Triple-A Rochester after Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Nunez went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in the contest before being replaced at the plate by Robert Hassell in the bottom of the eighth inning. Nunez will return to Rochester after being called up April 12, posting a disappointing .186 average with two doubles, five RBI, six runs scored and seven stolen bases over 43 at-bats in 23 games with the Nationals. It's unclear who will be replacing Nunez on the major-league roster, but Washington will have an extra day to think about it with an off day Monday before heading to New York to face the Mets for a three-game set beginning Tuesday.
Trevor Williams : Falls to Texas
Williams (3-7) took the loss Sunday against the Rangers, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits over 4.1 innings. He struck out two. It's Williams' fourth loss in his last six starts -- he's posted a 5.96 ERA despite giving up just three home runs in that span. Overall, Williams sports a 5.91 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP and 49:16 K:BB through 13 starts (64 innings) this season. He's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Marlins in his next start.
Robert Hassell : On bench against lefty opener
Hassell is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers. The left-handed-hitting Hassell will begin Sunday's contest on the bench while southpaw Jacob Latz opens the contest for the Rangers, but Hassell could be called upon to replace either Alex Call or Jacob Young in the outfield once Latz turns the game over to the Texas bullpen. The recent return of Young from the injured list may not necessarily cost Hassell a regular spot in the lineup right away, but Hassell will likely need to improve upon his .259/.259/.328 slash line through his first 58 plate appearances in the majors to ensure he sticks around in Washington for the long haul.
José Tena : Idle again Sunday
Tena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers. Tena will hit the bench for the fourth time in five games, with all of his absences coming against left-handed starting pitchers. The Rangers are having southpaw Jacob Latz serve as an opener for Sunday's contest, so Tena could end up subbing in for the right-handed-hitting Amed Rosario once Latz exits the contest, likely after working an inning or two.
Paul Abrams : Receiving rare day off
Abrams is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports. Abrams started all 40 games since coming back from a hip injury in late April, but he has a .127/.213/.182 slash line over his past 14 contests and will get a couple days to reset ahead of Tuesday's series opener versus the Mets. Nasim Nunez will take over at shortstop and bat ninth in Sunday's series finale against Texas.
Keibert Ruiz : Resting for series finale
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers. Ruiz will take a seat for the day game after he went 0-for-3 while playing all nine innings behind the plate in Saturday's 5-0 loss. Riley Adams will check in for Ruiz behind the dish in the series finale.
Mitchell Parker : Takes sixth loss
Parker (4-6) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks over six innings against Texas. He struck out five. Parker delivered six solid innings, but a lack of run support from Washington resulted in his sixth loss of the season. Despite the loss, this was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the southpaw, who entered the game with a 7.99 ERA and 1.69 WHIP over his previous seven starts.
