Witt went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-5 win over the White Sox. Witt provided valuable insurance with a two-run homer in the ninth inning, giving the Royals a 7-2 lead that held up after the White Sox rallied for three runs in the bottom of the frame. The shortstop has opened June on a seven-game hit streak, tallying three extra-base hits and six RBI during that span. Though he's delivered just eight home runs across 289 plate appearances, Witt is slashing .291/.349/.492 with 37 RBI and 25 runs scored while tying for second in the majors with 21 steals.

Latest Royals News
Robert Witt : Homers in win
Michael Lorenzen : Strikes out seven in win
Lorenzen (4-6) earned the win against the White Sox on Sunday, allowing two runs on one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts over six innings. The only hit Lorenzen allowed was a two-run homer in the first inning, but he bounced back with five straight scoreless frames to notch his first win since April 29. The 33-year-old generated 14 whiffs on 92 pitches in a much-needed strong effort after surrendering 13 earned runs over his previous two outings. He'll take a 4.94 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 61:22 K:BB across 71 innings into a home matchup with the Athletics next weekend.
Carlos Estévez : Converts 19th save
Estevez earned the save in Sunday's 7-5 win over the White Sox, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one. He let two inherited runners score but was not charged with any earned runs. Estevez entered the ninth with a 7-3 lead and the bases loaded after Trevor Richards struggled to start the inning. Two of the baserunners came around to score on a single and a groundout, but he was ultimately able to put out the fire. The 32-year-old leads the American League with 19 saves and owns a 1.88 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 27:13 K:BB across 28.2 innings.
Thomas Hatch : Remaining with KC
Hatch cleared waivers Sunday and was outrighted to Triple-A Omaha. Hatch was DFA'd by the Royals on Thursday but will remain in the organization. The righty didn't get into a game during his one day on KC's roster and hasn't appeared in an MLB contest since 2023, when he spent time with Pittsburgh and Toronto. Hatch has been working as a starter with Omaha this season and will likely reprise that role now that he's back with the Triple-A club.
Michael Massey : Idle against righty again
Massey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox. Massey has now started in just two of the Royals' last five matchups with right-handed pitching and finds himself as the odd man out of the lineup while the Royals give Bobby Witt a day out of the infield and deploy him at designated hitter. Over his last 10 games, Massey is slashing just .154/.185/.154, bringing his OPS down to .479 for the season.
Drew Waters : Heading to bench Sunday
Waters is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox. Waters started the first two games of the series and will take a seat Sunday after going 2-for-6 with two strikeouts and a caught stealing. John Rave will start in left field and bat eighth in the series finale.
Vincent Pasquantino : Racks up three hits in defeat
Pasquantino went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's loss to the White Sox. Pasquantino was the only Royals player with multiple its in the contest, and he also accounted for the team's lone extra-base hit with his solo shot to right field in the second inning. The lefty-hitting first baseman extended his hitting streak to eight games and is batting a robust .467 (14-for-30) during that span. Pasquantino has gone deep in each of his past two contests following a 14-game stretch without a long ball.
Michael Wacha : Takes loss despite quality start
Wacha (3-5) took the loss against the White Sox on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over six innings. Wacha gave up a two-run homer in the second inning and a solo shot in the third, accounting for all of the runs against him. He was otherwise fine, racking up 12 whiffs and throwing 64 of 95 pitches for strikes, but the right-hander got only one run of support as he fell to 3-5. Wacha did manage to notch his second straight quality start and his sixth overall this season, and he's been a steady part of Kansas City's rotation with a 3.01 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 55:19 K:BB across 74.2 frames.
