Abreu is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. Abreu will hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Yankees send another lefty (Carlos Rodon) to the hill. Platoon mate Rob Refsnyder will replace Abreu as the Red Sox's starting right field.

Latest Red Sox News
Wilyer Abreu : Sitting out series finale
Abreu is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. Abreu will hit the bench for the second day in a row while the Yankees send another lefty (Carlos Rodon) to the hill. Platoon mate Rob Refsnyder will replace Abreu as the Red Sox's starting right field.
Roman González : Swats homer in victory
Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, two additional runs and a double in a 10-7 win against the Yankees on Saturday. Gonzalez tacked the final two runs onto the line of Yankees starter Ryan Yarbrough with a blast to left field in the fourth inning. It was the first long ball of the season for Gonzalez, who went deep six times over 216 plate appearances with Boston last year. Despite the lack of power by Gonzalez this season before Saturday, the utility man has been handy with the bat, as he's slashing .329/.368/.486 with 12 RBI, 13 runs and three stolen bases through 76 plate appearances.
Trevor Story : Plates five runs Saturday
Story went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and five RBI in a 10-7 win against the Yankees on Saturday. Story produced a bases-clearing double in the third inning, and he added a pair of insurance runs with a single in the ninth. The five RBI marked a season high for the veteran shortstop and equaled the number of runs he had plated over his previous 15 games combined. This was also Story's first three-hit performance since April 21, and he's still slashing a modest .222/.268/.331 on the season.
Albertin Chapman : Posts 10th save
Chapman earned a save against the Yankees on Saturday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning. Chapman was called upon in the ninth inning to protect a three-run lead against the team he spent over six seasons with earlier in his career. The veteran closer needed just 11 pitches to get the job done, firing nine strikes and retiring the side in order. Chapman is in the midst of a throwback campaign at 37 years of age, as he holds a 1.73 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 34:9 K:BB through 26 innings. The fireballer is 10-for-11 in save chances and has given up just one earned run over his past 10 outings.
Garrett Crochet : Nabs win in uneven performance
Crochet (6-4) earned the win against the Yankees on Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out nine batters over six innings. The five earned runs were a season-worst mark for Crochet, but he still managed to walk away with a victory thanks to a potent Boston offense. Much of the damage against the southpaw was inflicted by Austin Wells, who tagged Crochet for a three-run homer in the second inning and a run-scoring double in the fourth. Despite the damage to his ERA, Crochet impressed by inducing 15 whiffs and racking up nine punchouts, including three strikeouts of Aaron Judge. Crochet has fanned 32 batters across his past three starts and leads the majors with 110 punchouts on the season.
Tanner Houck : Not progressing
Houck (elbow) has yet to throw off a mound, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. Houck has been throwing for over two weeks but has yet to progress past playing catch. Given that he'll require a rehab assignment, he's likely to be sidelined until at least early July.
Justin Slaten : Still not throwing
Slaten (shoulder) has yet to play catch since being placed on the injured list Sunday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. Slaten was diagnosed with shoulder fatigue when he was placed on the injured list, so the issue didn't appear to be overly serious. However, he's likely to be sidelined until at least late June given his lack of progress.
Kutter Crawford : Bullpen pushed back
Crawford (knee) experienced more wrist pain and will have his bullpen session moved to next week, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. Crawford is rehabbing from a knee injury but more recently had wrist pain emerge. Testing didn't reveal structural damage, and he was originally scheduled to throw at some point during the team's weekend series against the Yankees.
