IL stint likely
Manager Mark Kotsay said after Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Blue Jays that Andujar (oblique) is likely to be placed on the injured list, Jessica Kleinschmidt of Baseball America reports. The 30-year-old was removed during the fifth inning of Sunday's contest due to oblique discomfort, and he's expected to be sidelined for at least the next 10 days. Andujar is scheduled to undergo medical imaging Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
Leaves early with oblique injury
Andujar was removed in the bottom of the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Blue Jays due to right oblique discomfort, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. He went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored before departing. The Athletics haven't clarified when Andujar sustained the injury, but he may have tweaked his side at some point during his plate appearance in the top half of the inning, when he grounded into a fielder's choice. Though he stayed in the game and came around to score on Luis Urias' double, Andujar was lifted in favor of Max Schuemann when the Athletics returned to the field for the bottom of the frame. Andujar will presumably be put through some tests as the Athletics look to determine the severity of his oblique issue, but it wouldn't be surprising if the 30-year-old needed to go on the 10-day injured list.
Delivers three-hit effort
Andujar went 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 9-6 extra-inning loss to the Phillies. Andujar has hit safely in five straight games since returning from right rib soreness that kept him out of a couple of contests. He is 8-for-22 (.364) since rejoining the lineup, and he continues to carve out decent playing time between third base, designated hitter and right field, which is where he started Saturday before moving to the hot corner during the game. Overall, Andujar has been excellent at the plate this season, slashing .320/.350/.435 with three home runs, 20 RBI, 16 runs scored and a stolen base over 39 contests.
Starting at hot corner Tuesday
Andujar (ribs) is starting at third and batting sixth against the Angels on Tuesday. Andujar was absent from Monday's series opener versus the Angels after being scratched from the lineup due to right rib soreness. The injury is not serious as suspected, so the 30-year-old is set to return to action Tuesday.

Andujar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants. Andujar has been operating as the Athletics' primary third baseman over the past couple weeks, but he will sit Sunday after going 2-for-8 with a strikeout in the first two games of the series versus San Francisco. Max Schuemann is instead manning the hot corner and batting eighth.
Clubs homer in three-hit effort
Andujar went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 11-1 win over the Dodgers. Andujar snapped an 11-game stretch without a homer when he went deep in the ninth inning. The 30-year-old has gone 14-for-44 (.318) over his last 12 contests, which is right in line with his season average of .319 through 31 games. He's added three homers, 18 RBI, 13 runs scored, one stolen base, three doubles and a triple over 121 plate appearances. Andujar continues to see steady playing time at third base with an occasional opportunity in the corner outfield.
